Integrative Multi-System Psychiatric Assessment

Counseling Image Takashi Matsuki, M.D. Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist Office Image

Multiple inter-related systems, including medical, psychological, psychiatric, spiritual, cultural, social, behavioral, and lifestyle, normally constitute a person’s psychological well-being. Dr. Matsuki has been trained in traditional psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and primary care medicine, and always works within multiple systems to comprehensively understand issues affecting the patient, so that he can resolve those issues with a well-developed, multi-system plan.

Initial evaluation of Dr. Matsuki takes one or two sessions, each of which lasts about thirty minutes. His comprehensive, in-person evaluation often includes in-depth exploration of patient’s current condition, medical history, mental health history, present stressors, and life history. Dr. Matsuki also recommends diagnostic testing to identify any medical issue that may manifest itself as a psychiatric illness and should be ruled out, or nutritional deficiencies that should be examined and treated with supplements and lifestyle modification.

After the completion of assessment, Dr. Matsuki provides a personalized treatment plan and suggests frequency and modes of treatment (such as medication management, psychotherapy, management of underlying medical condition, supplement, diet modification, lifestyle modification, and exercise program). If Dr. Matsuki determines that a treatment outside the scope of his practice is required for the patient, he will make sure to refer the patient to appropriate specialists.

Psychotherapy

Even if medications can relieve the severity of symptoms, only a part of the issues may be addressed by them, as you may already know. Therefore, it is crucial that medication management is combined with ongoing psychotherapy to achieve the most successful result. Psychotherapy is known to be the best way to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive therapeutic environment if it is desirable for you to know yourself and make your life better. Dr. Matsuki has had specialized training to assist patients with a wide range of psychological disorders, and acquired the ability to help patients understand and resolve issues which in most cases involve complicated, deep-seated emotional and relationship matters based on unconscious processes. For that reason, patients’ symptoms will be reduced and distress will be eased. Psychotherapy could be of invaluable benefit to you if you seek a greater sense of fulfillment of experience a loss of meaning in life.
